Honestly there is not much for me to specifically say because I am not necessarily an expert, but this thing just sounds very good It sounds just right. It’s not overly in your face with a bunch of bass or treble so you can listen for super long or even sleep and it still isn’t going to wake you up (depending on the volume and fit of course) the vocals on this thing actually come out really nice in a satisfying kind of way. Like you hear it and it just sounds fulfilling. It’s different from your normal energetic sound, but it sounds less hollow I guess you could say. Some things I will say though are (1) the bass may still lack a little for someone who likes a little more bass (which is still fixable depending on what eartips you choose)and (2) It is a decently bigger iem with a slightly longer nozzle so again you’re gonna want to find an ear tip that fits you the best. Honestly I think stock eartips in general don’t sound the best, but on the ones Included, they sound and fit pretty okay but other than that that’s all I got to say at least for my tastes everything is there not too much not to little. Very fulfilling sounding Iem
I've not used IEMs since 2018, and saw these in a YouTube review after looking at reviews of the Hexa.
Sound-wise, these absolutely tick all my personal boxes as a producer that values a frequency response comparable to that of reference headphones, for daily long-term casual listening purposes while working. Certainly a vast improvement over my Bluetooth Sonys. The bass response is fantastic. Powerful and punchy without sounding woofy or boomy. The highs are very clean indeed, and not at all harsh - I'd be keen to try the brighter Hexa counterpart to see how they compare, but there's just enough high end here or me for extended listening without sounding dark or dull enough that returning to reference headphones is a problem. The mids are also fantastic. Very even, impressively so, actually.
Simply put, I can wear these for the majority of a 10 hour shift and return immediately to studio headphones without having to spend time re-acclimatizing my ears back to a flat profile again. That counts for a lot.
The unboxing was fantastic. The packaging was colourful and charming without being at all obnoxious insofar as company slogans are concerned (I'm looking at you, Raycon). All the information needed and nothing more, and the artwork is adorable, credit to the artist.
Contents were well packaged and presented, and the included parts are above par in my opinion; the cable is fantastic and the best I've used personally, and the included carry case is splendid in operation. Clearly designed with convenience in mind.
I'd recommend these to anyone looking for a pair of affordable and well made IEMs that have a balanced and honest sound to them. Very happy with my purchase, and looking forward to all the future listening I'll have with them!
Only two points I'd mention (and these are to be taken with a dried-up lake's worth of salt) are that there were some slight (and I mean slight) defects in the surface finish of the resin casing of the headphones, which is to be expected from the 3D printing and (presumably) hand finishing used, this is only noticeable on a very close inspection and frankly isn't an issue at all. It doesn't affect comport, sound, listenability or my opinion of this product.
That, and the sound stage isn't the biggest, but:
- They're IEMs, they're typically narrower sounding anyway
- I'm comparing to over ear headphones, so it's a moot and unfair comparison.
- I didn't buy these for their sound stage
- The instrument separation is still fantastic regardless thanks to the great quality drivers, acoustics, and resultant frequency response.
After looking at too many graphs I decided to try the TE Pure, I prefer a neutral over an excited profile and it indeed delivers a flat, a.k.a. boring, but detailed sound signature.
My reference are Shure SE215 and Ibasso IT01.
My main use case: Playing bass in a live band.
The Good:
- Very flat from sub to highs
- detailed representation, I could more easily identify separate instruments without it getting muddy
- solid bass extension*
- solid build quality, nice pouch, good amount of ear tips
- good form factor, could fit easily in my ear shape
Mediocre:
- cable is just long enough, an extra 5-10 cm would not hurt. When new it's pretty stiff at the ear so it creates big arches instead of shaping to your ear, will probably bend over time.
The bad
1. The drop off below 100hz is off more then expected. With an EQ you can compensated and notice it is quite capable. But out of the box it lacks a little.
2. There is a bump in the highs which makes some vocals a bits too 'airy' or too crisp compared to the rest of the natural sound signature
3. Sound isolation and fitment (staying in my ear) was less then then my other IEMS, I did try other tips but might need more testing to make it work as well.
Overall very happy with the sound, quality, especially for that price. If I were to use more for dedicated sound listing I might lean more towards a bit more bass but for for now it's my nr. 1 IEM.
To me, Truthear Pure is one of the best neutral sound IEM in the price bracket around $100. It is smooth and musical, where the bass and treble are just nice. In this IEM, everything just falls nicely in place. It is very comfortable for long listening session.
My first iem since the Shure E2C in the mid 2000s somewhere. I got rid of that, as I found it uncomfortable and too bright for my tastes, it was very fatiguing to me. The pure is nothing like that, nice amount of base and excellent mids. it's warm-neutral ish in tonanlity, and it could do with a little more treble to be perfect. Treble detail isn't anything to write home about, although it's still not awful. Haven't found it fatiguing at all, or uncomfortable over the 2 hours I've had in in longest for at this time.
For it's price, it is excellent value, and will do well for what I want it for.
