The hype is justified

The tuning on these is absolutely spectacular. I daily drive the U12t, and I would say these (at least tonally) are superior. There's just the slightest bit of warmth that brings out the soul and emotion of the music while still sounding very true to life and neutral. This also leads to them sounding somewhat cohesive, as if everything in the music is acting as one unit, as opposed to the more separated sound you get with something like the 2019 Harman curve, which can sound more dry, thin, and emotionless.

In terms of technical performance, I wouldn't say it's anything special. They are just slightly more technical than the Blessing 2 Dusk. So, while I think these are the best IEMs tonally (for me), they are far from replacing anything in the kilobuck range since they won’t give you the immersive experience you would get with IEMs that excel in imaging, staging, resolution, etc.

There is one nitpick I have with the tuning: the treble is just a little bit too smooth. While I think this makes them especially agreeable (no one on earth will think these are sibilant), I believe it makes them less engaging than they should be, or at least less engaging than my sense of neutral. Similar to the U12t, these aren't going to wow you immediately. I think you need to spend some time with them before you really start to appreciate them. Some sets wow you at first and then lose their luster, but these are the opposite—you’ll only like them more the more you listen to them. I know this isn’t scientific or anything, but it's just my opinion.

Absolutely amazing

I’m quite new to the item game I had some aful a5s for a while and wanted to change it up and these are amazing slight peaking at high volumes but I think that might be something I’m doing wrong

The Mega5-EST is an impressive set of IEMs. I previously used the Dusk IEMs before buying these. I didn't EQ the Dusk, but I felt a need to EQ the Mega5-EST with the Qudelix 5k. Once I picked a good EQ, the Mega 5s really unlock their true potential. The bass on the Dusk is a little better, but the Mega 5 still has good, balanced bass. This is a very balanced neutral sound, yet the imaging and soundstage is incredible. I am able to make out more details in songs that I didn't recognize in the Dusk IEMs, however, I haven't compared these two IEMs very extensively at all so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'm impressed at the Mega5-EST and am glad I've added it to my collection.

Beauty of Sound

mega best? Probably. Really a jack-of-all-trades IEM but really excels at instrumental/orchestral pieces. Handles K-pop and Alt Rock like a champ too.

Excellent if you can spare the dosh

These are far and away the greatest IEMs I have ever used, although I have only really used budget until now. I have a bit of a sensitivity to higher pitched sounds but the way these are out of the box I can make out everything with no muddiness or the pain that usually accompanies an over tuned high end. Truthfully I would have gotten a better idea of what I was working with had I bought a few others in its price point (300-500 USD), but I'm not made of money and decided to buy once and cry once. I would recommend these to anyone who has the budget for an excellent all rounder.
