Absolutely amazing IEM. Definitely one of the best all-around ,IEMS on the market today.
Neutral and very airy sound. Thanks to the EST drivers, the treble is marvelous and detailed without being fatiguing—an improvement over my Moondrop Blessing 3 which were a bit harsh.
The bass response is elevated (similar to my Ziigaat Odyssey) but lacks some impact. Overall, a non-fatiguing set. Note: Despite the high sensitivity specs, these IEMs benefit significantly from good amplification to reach their full potential.
Excellent communication and shipping from Hangout. Highly recommended.
Incredible
What impressed me most is the clean, clear and smooth elevated treble, balanced by a good bass. Not fatiguing at all (and I am a bit treble sensitive) but the overall sound presentation is slightly too much airy and a bit lean to my ears, though perfect for classical and orchestral music and female vocals. I have no real complaint as I am an EQ guy and I made only minor tweaks here. I now have an EST set that didn't cost me as much as an used car and sounds the way I want. Best eartips in the box are the C04, the other ones don't seal perfectly in my ears and a PERFECT seal is absolutely necessary for this set, or it's a waste of money. Accurate and extended tip rolling recommended.
Soundstage is above average and above expectations. Good details retrieval. Low impedance, choose your source carefully.
The only real weakness, which is the reason why I don't rate them 5 stars, it's the form factor: rounded shape, slippery resin, short and wide nozzle, no fins. They are comfy but unless you find working eartips and a secure fit with the best insertion angle you'll end up constantly adjusting them in your ears. It's also an hollow resin shell, disappointing for the price, although you pay for quality drivers.
Prior to this, the only other set around this price range I tried was the Xenns Mangird Top Pros, which I loved, but had this hard edge to the treble that could cause treble elements to stand out. It was fun in most of the music I listened to, but could be unpleasant while gaming.
The Rockies, for me, basically took the treble magic of the Top Pros and smoothed things off to make for a noticeably more comfortable listening experience, while still being extremely detailed. Also, this is the first set I've tried with ESTs, and I'm super impressed at what they've been able to do here in the Rockies.
